So I’d kind of like to get into more 2000ad comics than just Judge Dredd, but the other others that I have any interest in are Rogue Trooper and ABC Warriors. Only problem is that I don’t want to drop $20 and then end up not liking it. I found out there is a Rogue Trooper video game from 2006 for PC, so I got a new copy of it for about $5 on amazon. It looks pretty cool, so I guess I’ll see when it gets here in a few days.
At least this way I’ll learn a little bit about the series.

It is always difficult giving people advice as 2000AD is a a broad church and can publish anything from horror to space operas to fantasy to military science fiction, although they’ll all tend to have a focus on strong characters. Rogue Trooper is a good pick as it is one of the classic old school thrills that was one of the flagship titles in the first Golden Age, which meant that it got some of the top talent at the time - Dave Gibbons, Colin Wilson, Cam Kennedy, Brett Ewins and Steve Dillon. All of that under the reliable hand of Gerry Finley-Day whose run was followed by some of the best script droids of the day, like Alan Moore’s two stories from the annuals, John Smith’s “Cinnabar” and Gordon Rennie’s later revivals. They are now being collected in the thick phonebook-sized Tales of Nu-Earth volumes, which give a great slab of thrills. Read up on it starting at Wikipedia. This is only one of the classics from the archives - there is also Dredd, Strontium Dog, ABC Warriors, Nemesis the Warlock, Robo-Hunter, The VCs and many more.

It might also be an idea to mix in more recent thrills to keep things fresh and up-to-date. From the late 90s revival we have the epic Nikolai Dante and the high octane (and pun-filled) Sinister Dexter or the more recent Caballistics Inc (and its very recent spin-off Absalom), Leviathan, Necronauts, Stickleback, Cradlegrave and on and on.

In fact there are so many even a shortened list can be too much. Have a read around (perhaps starting here) and see what appeals to you. For more focused advice there is always the 2000AD forums where the Hivemind will be more than happy to offer readinglists depending on what you’ve read and liked or your general tastes.

OH MY GOD!  I just remembered this game!  Well, I remembered the game itself, and that the gameplay was fun(details are escaping me though).  But if Rogue Soldier rings any bells.. well, then, I salute you.

I just remember this game being so much damn fun to play as an early teens me.
