Noticed that there are a lot of people who don’t know what they are talking about, I appreciate they are probably American and clearly have never read 2000AD, but my god did it make me mad. People lumping it in with the new Total Recall, because they are both sci fi remakes… WRONG SO SO SO WRONG.
Every single fan of Judge Dredd knows that this is not a remake, this is the film that we wanted, as far as I’m concerned the 90s film with Stallone never happened. It had good moments, like Mean Machine looked cool, but it was a weak plot to have chosen, Stallone was weak, and let’s not even talk about him taking the helmet off.
Essentially people need to know that this is a film based on comics, not a remake of the 90s film.
And as a massive 2000AD fan I think this movie looks damn cool, and all the interviews I’ve seen have only given me more positive thoughts. Obviously it’s not out for another month so I can’t Judge it yet. But it looks like it’s going to be worthy. If you’re interested in this film, I strongly recommend you read as many of the comics as you can if you haven’t already so that you can go into this film without you’re only point of reference being the last film. I suggest reading these storylines:
- The Judge Child
- The Apocalypse War
- The Dead Man (my favourite)
- Necropolis
- Judgement Day
- Origins
Anyway yeah that pretty much concludes my rant, other than the fact I am super happy that this film has an 18 (R) certificate and not been dumbed down to a 12A or something just to get more views.
Indeed. This is another adaptation of the Judge Dredd comic series, not a remake of the Stallone movie. In fact, “reboot” is pushing it too. Now to deal with those comparison to The Raid…
