Brilliant variant cover by graphic artist James Biggie for August’s Judge Dredd #10 from IDW:
“The Cursed Earth, Pt. 2”—Judge Dredd, along with his multi-eyed precog mutie companion Dannn, fight venture through the Cursed Earth in pursuit of the renegade droids who stole the only thing that can save Mega-City One. Horrific obstacles stand in their way… but none more horrific than the worst backwoods criminal posse ever to set foot on irradiated soil:the Angel Gang! When these longtime fan-favorite villains make their U.S. debut, you’d better make sure your dial is set to “brutal”…

Gallery of Simon Bisley’s Slaine:The Horned God saga.

Gathering together the Treasures Of The Goddess-the Cauldron Of Blood, that has the power to regenerate the dead;the Spear Of The Sun,that howls with battlelust never tiring of slaying and the Sword of The Moon with the ability to cut through anything,Slaine is finally ready to face the armies of the Formorian Sea-Devils.

Headed by Balor of the Evil-Eye,alongside dark sorceress Medb, they wish to preserve the corrupt, fetid rule of the old Horned God,Slough Feg.

Both worshippers of the Earth-Goddess,Danu,Slaine and Medb follow opposite paths, one wishing darkness and destruction, the other a spirit of light and happiness-“the laughter in the woods”.

In a final battle with the Old Horned God,Slough Feg,Slaine spiritually and physically emasculates the decaying, skeletal Feg becoming the Goddess’ champion, the New Horned God!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, last month’s Forum Art Comp:Bad Company(Apr’13)produced some of the best fan art we’ve seen on the forum,or anywhere for that matter,so I was glad I didn’t have to pick a winner!

However,I can’t argue with any of the chosen entries and congratulations to the worthy winners:

  • 1st Place goes to Brighton-based artist,Jon Taylor’s blood-spattered,Krool-despatching,Kano!
  • 2nd Place again features Bad Company leader, the Krool-hating Kano from Warwick Fraser-Coombe.
  • 3rd Place Mark Chilcott with this wonderful Muppet/Bad Company mash-up!
  • Right Honourable Position goes to Neil McClements’ mean and moody 2nd-in-Command,Thrax.
  • Tharg’s Choice is this intimate portrait of Shrike, inseparable and devoted companion of Thrax by JohnnyStress

Keep up the great work, all you talented Squaxx dek Thargo, perhaps next month’s artwork will be equally ghafflebette!
